Approach

I provide a Trauma Informed Care (TCI) approach to supporting children, adolescents and families who are dealing with the impact and symptoms of trauma, such as behavioural challenges, emotional regulation, self-esteem and confidence, stress management, and parenting.

Modalities

I am trained in various modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, the Circle of Security, and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT).

Treatment and Intervention

Creative interventions that work with the body are used in treatment and intervention. My focus is on supporting the processing of negative memories, experiences, and bad feelings so that a person can begin to build a healthier self-image, greater confidence, and positive relationships in all environments.

About Paula

Paula has a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a clinical specialization and is registered with the Alberta College of Social Work. Her experience connecting with traumatized youth in Alberta and with children living with trauma around the world with the Balikbayan Project has allowed Paula to share the power of love, connection, and play in healing trauma and building resilience.

She is the author of I am AWESOME! and co-authored the International selling book, My Name is Trauma. She facilitates workshops and training programs about trauma informed care and helping traumatized children heal through play.

The driving force behind her practice is the belief that everyone has talents and strengths that make them awesome and that everyone’s awesome is worth celebrating. She loves with her whole heart and is willing to dare greatly in the journey of life to serve others.
